The fundamental reason an LCD screen can display a picture is the presence of a light source, and its light source is the backlight layer.


Because the backlight layer is a module made up of a lot of LED beads that emit white light. When the number of beads in the traditional LED backlighting module cannot meet the requirements of picture quality and industry application, it will be replaced by the new backlighting technology, MiniLED backlighting technology emerged.

The LED chip controls the intensity of light beads in a single area to achieve higher contrast. Moreover, Local dimming technology can also effectively improve the light leakage problem of LCD screen since most MiniLED backlit panels are designed with straight down backlighting.

Application of MiniLED in all industries


In terms of application scenarios of MiniLED, it is mainly divided into direct display and backlight modes.


The direct display adopts RGB three-color LED module to make MiniLED beads as pixels directly like OLED, so as to complete the picture display. However, this method is still limited by the immature technology and high cost of small-size screen, so it is only applied in the field of commercial and professional display, and it still needs some time before it can be popularized for civil use.
